It is a bad fire year and the sun is red at dusk and dawn. Some days we cannot see across the valley to the north hills, and the air burns eyes and throat.

This on top of reading about the Yellowstone Caldera, the super volcano. So much crowd appeal that sort of ineffable disaster has on the imagination at any time, let alone in times of stress.

Still glad that wonderful pony is in Canada, and I noticed Edmonton is just north of the 600-mile zone of destruction drawn around the caldera…
